In celebration of the African Heritage Month 2010, the Intercultural Heritage Association (IHA) is inviting children ages 7 to 17 to participate in a hands-on art and crafts event scheduled for February 13, 2010.
This is a day set aside for children to share African-inspired art and crafts (making toy cars, aero-planes, houses, dolls, plant and flower decorations, animal figures etc., and to join a bicycle-decorating competition).
The idea behind these workshops is to use common things we find around the house that we take for granted. Items such as milk cartons; old sweaters, flip-flops and plastic bags are used by rural African children to make things like dolls, balls, art and toy cars.
